Question 2
Imam please help my query for Allah’s sake. I intend to marry a previously divorced lady, mother of two, in the most simplistic manner. I intend to take two of my Muslim friends and make sure my wife-to-be is in modest covering. We are both Hanafi. I intend to say “I offer to nikah you. Do you accept the nikah?” And she will say “yes I accept.” Will this simple proposal and response suffice to make the nikah valid? I will give her appropriate dowry immediately following and preceding conjugation. Please comment on the validity of the nikah Imam. I will be very very grateful to your efforts.

Question 3
Is it farz on a person to marry a girl whose father has done IHSAAN on him? I mean, one of my very close relatives just guided me with my studies and career, and also helped me get a good job. If I am very successful by worldly means and he is also one of the major factors behind that, and if he asks me to marry his daughter, do I have to marry her? And if I don't marry her, is it a major sin? The reason for not marrying her is that, first of all, I do not have any feelings towards her at all, and plus her un-Islamic lifestyle, and other qualities which I don't like. I just want to marry a girl who is pious, very decent, and I feel attracted towards her so that I could also take good care of her and love her. If I marry someone against my will, I do not think I would be happy in a long-term relationship. I kind of feel overwhelmed with the emotional pressure. I love that guy, and I can do anything, except marrying his daughter. Furthermore, I consulted my mom, and she is happy with what I think. Please guide me with this matter as soon as possible.

Assalam alaykum,
I don’t want children in the future. I am very sure about it. But I heard from a lot of people that this isn’t Islamic. I don’t get it. Maybe it is mustahab to have children, but you can’t make a woman feel pressured or bad for her choice. What is the truth about this matter?

In most of our Muslim families, the girl and the suitor do not know each other for a very long time and usually have only seen each other once or twice before marriage. The couple often does not develop deep feelings before marriage unless they are married and living together. Is it permissible for a girl and/or guy to proceed for marriage without having those feelings, although they are satisfied and mutually agree to the marriage? Is there any specific hadith or Qur'anic verse on this matter?
